I lived for twenty years in Boston and spent a lot of time across the river in Cambridge.  The statue of the “founder” in Harvard Yard is Cambridge’s most-visited tourist site, and also its greatest locus of mythology and misinformation.  I contributed this piece to Atlas Obscura exploring the statue’s “three lies” and checkered history:
